An estimated 9.4% or 30.3 million of the United States population has type 2 diabetes, with 7.2 million of these cases remaining undiagnosed. On the other hand, 1.25 million people have type 1 diabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association.

Another 86 million people have prediabetes. Meanwhile, 12 million people aged 65 and above have diabetes.
